Leather naturally is “a not-for-profit industry members association that focuses on education and the promotion of leather. We promote the use of globally manufactured sustainable leather and seek to inspire and inform designers, creators, and consumers about its beauty, quality and versatility.”

Townsend Leather has had a passion for all things leather for over 50 years and we strive to be an informative resource for fans and customers of leather.  This membership will allow us to reach even further and provide a wider variety of information to our pupils.

The research, education, and resources that Leather Naturally has worked to craft is impressive. There is a wealth of information at their site: www.leathernaturally.org/Education/Fact-Sheets and because we at Townsend feel deeply the importance of education and depth of knowledge is a first step toward a positive future, we are excited to utilize this Townsend Leather / Leather Naturally relationship as just one more stride Townsend is taking in our pursuit of environmental excellence and to create a positive environmental impact.

One of the reasons Townsend Leather continues to be awarded recognitions like “Best Place To Work” and “Top Work Place“, is because of people like the incredible folks on our Shoe Leather Team

This is work that is not for everyone, it requires skill, nuance, and a passion for hands-on craft.  But the people that can make it on to this team find themselves in an inspiring world of compassion, team, family, and pride.  This is a hands-on hearts-in team that takes challenges head-on to craft awesomeness.  This is the world-renown team to be featured on National Geographic for their part in crafting New Balance Shoes!  This is the team that lives by the daring yet meaningful credo, “F*ck Average, Be Legendary!”

Take a quick peek into what their work is and feels like to them:

If you or someone you know has what it takes to be part of this legendary team, apply today!

Because of the incredible quality of work this team does, and Townsend’s foresight and leadership – Townsend Leather is growing

We are looking to add a couple more people to our Shoe Leather Team.  Looking to add a couple more people to take pride in crafting leather for New Balance shoes and other high-level brands, looking to add a couple more people who like to have fun while they are doing hard work, looking to add a couple more people who want to be part of a team, part of something bigger than themselves, part of something awesome.

Get Shit Done

It is a bold statement.  Not one for everyone, not one for every situation, but a statement embodied wholly by Townsend Leather Partners.

The ‘Get Shit Done’ ideology is not flippant, or casual, or offensive – it is a heartfelt full-in proclamation of taking action, with mind, body, and heart.  Going all-in with passion and thought, not giving up until it is complete.  That is who Townsend is, that is what we are made of.  We have been lovingly passionate about our Get Shit Done attitude for years, as you can see in this quick lookback-video of “GSD” photos from days gone by (maskless photos are from pre-pandemic).

Get it done.
Get it done best.
Get it done right.

You have to be smart, quick, and effective in order to Get Shit Done.
You have to be thoughtful, patient, and responsible to Get Shit Done.

You can’t just do shit, you have to get it done, get it done right, get it done better, get it done best. That is what Townsend Leather Partners do and is why we can wear this bold statement shirt with pride.

Our most popular and iconic shirt is now available to purchase:

https://www.bonfire.com/get-shit-done-4/

When you do buy one, you get to support Townsend Leather Partners-in-need at the same time.  The sale of these shirts helps to fund our ever-in-need, ‘Hides of Hope’ Partner support system, funded by Townsend Leather Partners for Townsend Leather Partners.

These shirts have been requested and worn by Townsend Leather fans, Partners, and customers across the entire globe.

The phrase ‘Get Shit Done’ has become synonymous with Townsend Leather’s work ethic – a team of people dedicated to getting the job done right no matter what is needed.  Surpassing customer’s expectations, overcoming every obstacle, and doing the necessary work with pride and passion.

You can ‘get shit done’ in your work, while showing it off to the world, supporting Townsend Leather Partners, and maybe you will find your own bit of Townsend magic to inspire you in your day to create awesome, make it happen, and get it done.

Townsend Leather’s Perfectly Pebbled Cowhide

Townsend Leather manufactures each Perfectly Pebbled Cowhide leather hide from start to finish, which means we control the process, the quality, and the environmental impact.

Townsend is passionate about creating a positive environmental impact.

It is important to us to craft products, like Perfectly Pebbled Cowhide, that create a positive environmental impact by being re-useable, repairable, long-lasting, and low-VOC. Each hide is made to the highest of quality and environmental standards with attention and care.

Perfectly Pebbled Cowhide starts as an inherently green product by removing something from the waste stream and transforming it into a reusable, repairable, highest-of-quality, long-lasting, beautiful product. No animal in Townsend Leather’s sourcing is taken for the hide; every hide that Townsend Leather uses is a by-product of meat production.

We have complete control over the production of Perfectly Pebbled Cowhide and are able to produce this leather without the use of any dangerous chromes.

Perfectly Pebbled Cowhide, being made of the finest leather in the world and with its luxurious pebble pattern, allows it to be supremely suitable to repair. Perfectly Pebbled Cowhide will last a lifetime because of its ability to be repaired and its ability to withstand aggressive cleaning and wear.

Covid-19 has impacted all parts of the design and leather industries, and some of those impacts are pilling up to create unique challenges.  One of those being, changes to workflow within the process and the workflow from the supply chain.

Over the next couple of weeks, it is possible some orders will be delayed.  Throughout the circuitry that keeps the Townsend Leather leather-loving-machine running at full speed, we have seen unprecedented disruptions.  Shipping carriers and raw material suppliers have had weeks delays in processing material and providing it along.

Our team has been facing their own challenges with a handful of close cases at our door, we took extra precautions for our team’s utmost health and safety.  Many of our team took time to quarantine at home, out of an effort to take every step we can at ‘stopping the spread’ and keeping everyone safe.   We took extra time for cleaning and care of our facility and put the time and brainpower into setting ourselves up for success when the usual flow returns.

We have been heartfeltidly focused on health, safety, and forward-thinking.  These times call for action, but we have always aimed to think bigger and further than just reaction.  We think of what’s next and build to that.  So while many pieces are out of our control, we turn our energy to what we can control and make the strongest action and best steps forward there.

Because of disruptions to our workflow and material flow, we may have a couple of weeks delays in processing orders, but you can be assured when they arrive they will have been poured over by our team.  They will be some of the most love-crafted orders we have ever made.

We love what we do, we are ready and poised to get crafting at full capacity again.
We will be restructuring our team’s schedule to create a continuous flow of work at hand, working hard and smart in overtime.
Even through setbacks, we find success, we find opportunity, we find we can rely on our love for leather, design, and working as a team to get us through.

As always, we have In-Stock leather on our shelves ready for your designs.  So if speed is of critical importance, browse our vast selection of in-stock leathers to find what we can ship you right now.

If you have any questions about your order or an order you hope to place in the next couple of weeks, contact us: info@townsendleather.com Because we ARE the manufacturer, there is almost always a solution we can custom-craft for your needs.

We are not defined by proximity, by the work we do, by the danger we face… we are defined by the values we display in times of strife.
We aim, to be defined, by being Partners, together
And we sincerely thank you for joining us in partnership during this time.
– Townsend Leather

Kindness Matters

In a month of love, we are taking a step back and focusing in on a slice of love, Kindness.  Kindness is being friendly, generous, and considerate.  It is not really about big epic moments, sometimes it is the fact that the action was so small which makes it impactful.  Some tiny act of kindness could easily be skipped over and no one would ever notice if you don’t do it – no one would say anything.  So the fact that it is unasked for and unexpected – is what makes it so huge.

One way Townsend is taking kindness action is spreading kindness throughout our team and our community.  We are placing extra focus on our usual random acts of kindness through February, looking for and sharing stories of the everyday kindness moments that make such a difference in our lives.  But we also are putting collective kindness effort into supporting our local Code Blue Shelter program.

The Code Blue Shelter provides services and shelter to our local homeless community whenever temperatures drop below 32 degrees.  The shelter also provides hot showers, clothing, blankets, toiletry kits, snack foods, water, and juice on-site. It is all volunteer-run and needs community support to stay available, which is critical for our area as we have had days and days of frigid temperatures in the low ‘teens.

Our team has set up contactless collections sites around our facility where everyone and anyone can help us collect needed items, which we will donate to the Code Blue program.  We are collecting everything from baby wipes, chap-stick, and toilet paper, to socks, gloves, and used coats.  If you have any questions or want to help, reach out to our kindness-organizers Gabby, Kayla, Pamela, and Carrie. info@townsendleather.com

In this time and in this weather, kindness can do more than just warm a heart – these simple acts of kindness in collecting items for our fellow humans in need can warm hands and feet and souls.

Our warming kind acts this month spill over into leather and design as well as we celebrate the warm and elegant hues of February winter, warms fireplaces, chocolate, and love – enchanting reds, deep maroons, blush pinks, and glamourous golds draw people together and stimulate conversation.

We hope you will join us, this month, in spreading kindness to those around you – near or far.  Share with us your Random Acts of Kindness by tagging us on Instagram and using #TownsendLeather.  Kindness often costs nothing but means everything to those who receive it.

We also love to look back on love, take a stroll in the wayback machine with us to see past celebrations of love and February. Like these two posts of color and leather:

6 Best Places to Work wins

What’s something interesting about your company that most people don’t know?
Any celebrity with a private jet, any musician with a fancy tour RV, any jet-setter in a high-end hotel, any regular person with New Balance shoes is almost definitely touching leather on the seats or their feet that was hand-crafted by leather experts from Townsend Leather.

What are the biggest wins or accomplishments for your company over the past year?
The biggest win is that we have been able to not just maintain but to thrive through all of this. We had to shut down, we had to lay off some employees, we lost money and time …but we came back. We now have all our employees back, we are running at full capacity, we have new projects and new customers. We had team members suffer unreal challenges, but the rest of the team came together in support and lifted them up. We have not had anyone get sick and have found a sense of pride in our new cleaning practices, daily health assessments, temp checks, and all the many steps we are taking to keep everyone safe. It is not a chore to endure, but rather a point of pride and success.

The biggest win is that we have been able to see who we truly are. Who our team truly is, and the sight of it, through all the pain, uncertainty, and struggles was beautiful. Our team is care-filled, focused on each other, focused on building for the future — together. Last year with our 50th-anniversary celebrations and all the fun and excitement of opening a new building we got to see who we are at our best — fun, joyful, high-fiving, community-driven … This past year, we got to see who we are at our worst, and it was humbling and wonderful to see that we are a team that can withstand challenges, and in fact thrive through them with our family-like attitude of togetherness and heart.
