Still high on a good vibes from last week and
all our Thankful feelings (click here to see our thankful list),
Townsend Leather started in on a month long exploration of the giving spirit.

Every year Townsend Leather “adopts” a local family in need.
We help to raise money (click here to see pics of our Chili CookOff) and gifts to make their Christmas, during a hard time in their life, extra special.
A small group of big-hearted Townsend partners, took their lunch time today to wrap up the first batch of gifts for the family.

Townsend partners also got started on our annual Toys For Tots collection.
We are looking to break our record and collect more than 5 over-flowing-ly full boxes.

And all over the office and production we are starting to see signs of Holiday fun and spirit…
Christmas tress with Deer toppers…

Handmade (and beautifully designed) leather stockings…

Incredible craftsmanship!

And some lights to add to the jolly feeling…

The ol’ Silver and Gold always seems to show up a bit more this time of year in production.
Shown here, some in-process Gold Leather.

There is sure more to come from Townsend’s Holiday festivities, decorations and giving spirit.
“Like” us on Facebook and you may even get to be a recipient of Townsend’s giving spirit!
Winky Face! More on that to come soon…
This week, Townsend has been focused on giving thanks! Everyone is anxiously looking forward to Thanksgiving and having some time to spend with family and friends.

We each took a minute to quickly share something we are thankful for, and what started as a thought here and there – snowballed with everyone’s un-containable feelings of thanks and gratitude, and we ended up getting a list that nearing 200 sentiments of thanks from many of the Townsend Partners.
Townsend Leather sincerely wishes you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday, we are very thankful to have such great customers, partners, suppliers and fans. Thank you!
Everyone loves lists, especially top ten lists, but we couldn’t narrow this one down at all, they are all great things to be thankful for! Here’s a look at some of the things Townsend Leather Partners are thankful for in 2013, it’s long, but we encourage you to browse through it all, there are some real gems in there, and for sure something you can relate to!:

Townsend Leather took a quick break from making leather to make some CHILI!

This was the first year for our sure-to-be-returning Annual Chili Cook-Off! And it was in good timing with very cold weather upon us in upstate New York and a welcome break to spend a bit of time together eating good food and having good conversation.
Each year the Townsend Leather partners band together to help raise money and “adopt a family” to support during the holidays. The families Townsend has supported are local families who have recently been faced with hardships, such as floods or house fires.
This year we have, just through our Chili Cook Off we have already raised over $250 dollars to help support this years family in need.
And no Chili Cook Off would be complete without announcing a winner, so this year’s Townsend Leather 2013 Annual “Chili-for-Charity” Cook Off Winner is…

Always happy to support a wonderful event with wonderful people, Townsend was pleased to be a small part of the NEWH Annual HOSPY Awards
It was an excellent event from all accounts we have heard. As it was sure to be with the Lifetime Achievement honoring of Todd-Avery Lenahan
Todd has done some very stunning work, you can see some of it at his company website, http://www.tal-studio.com/
We look forward the 2014 HOSPY’s and all the excitement and fun that comes with them!
Townsend Leather was extremely proud to spend some time honoring and relaxing with the military vets on our team. Read more here,Veterans Day 2013
Townsend Leather is awestruck at the dedication, abilities, and service of our country’s Veterans, especially the military vets on our own staff, here at Townsend.

These men and women are some of the most passionate and committed people out there.
We were able to take some time to celebrate our servicemen and share in their company and conversation. With lots of stories and accounts of their time in service, ranging from arm wrestling and vampires, to religion and politics, we were all pleased to share this time with them.
With nearly all of the military branches represented (all except Coast Guard) we had plenty of laughs and heartfelt moments.
We invite you, no matter what day it is, to honor an American Veteran by sitting with them and listening to their stories and perspective. You won’t regret it. Having been world travelers, seeing the highs and lows of mankind, being privy to dramatic social and political changes over the years – Veterans are a group that clearly have something to say, and that something is valuable.
A few Veterans from Townsend Leather are pictured below, after our lunch with them.
These are strong men, with a depth of life experience that can not be rivaled. They have clearly been positively influenced by their time serving our country and they are able to use that to in-turn positively influence everyone around them. Working as a jet mechanic in Japan, helping children in the Philippines (and giving them candy), giving orders in Iraq, protecting your team, and spending countless hours with strong leadership, clear goals, and the heavy burden of protecting yourself and others – will certainly leave you with a formed perspective on life and wisdom to share.
Townsend Leather is extremely proud of our Veterans and we thank them for their service to our country and to Townsend Leather.
This Veterans Day and every day, we thank and salute you.

Townsend Leather is proud to be active in our local community and proud of our local education system. This past summer we were honored to have a fantastic intern from the local community college, FMCC.
You can read more about Cristina and her time at Townsend on the FMCC Student Internship page.
