Thank you to all of you who have contacted Townsend Leather to check how we’ve been impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

Fortunately, here in Upstate New York, we only faced minimal effects from the storm and we are operating as usual.  There are no delays or impact to delivery of shipments at this time due to the aftermath of this storm.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those of you who were not so fortunate.  We are thinking of you all, including members of our sister company, The Leather Institute, in New Jersey.

We will be holding a bake sale and a couple of other fundraising events here at Townsend over the coming weeks with proceeds going to help those affected by the storm.

 

 

 

Townsend Leather had a great Day One of the NBAA show.  A bunch of people were excited to Share and Style Their Passions in the Townsend Leather booth with leather mustaches and “passion boards”.  We will be posting more photos soon.  You can see Jeff Herbert of LORD Corporation’s Passion of Engine Mounts in the photo above, he is also sporting a stylish “handle-bar” style mustache.

The trend of Tangerine Tango might be over, but Monaco Blue is making its way into the design and fashion world!  We have always loved this color pallet of sea breeze blues and aquas!  They are calming when paired with rich corals, but give a punch of color next to creamy and luxurious neutrals.  We have some great leather offerings in this color range that will transform your next interior!

 

We are excited to be showing at NBAA this year!  There are a lot of new leathers, company announcements, and interactive activities that we can’t wait to share with you!

We will be featuring a blend of brand new leathers and some tried-and-true favorites some of which include our new in-stock Shimmering Suede Collection, a full-grain, high performance Bellina Cowhide, that is reminiscent of “shrunken cowhide,” as well as a look at some one-of-a-kind hides from our new Abstract Art series.

TL Townsend Leather Handbags

Wanting to find a way to further her message of “a future that holds no place for cancer” handbag designer Terry Brindle teamed up with TL Townsend Leather to create a new line of handbags.  Using her own battle with cancer, both Ovarian and Breast, and her granddaughter Leah as inspiration, Terry got to work on handbags that would be functional, beautiful and carry a positive message.

She designed two handbags with Townsend leathers.  A tote with an aniline hand-rubbed black or antiqued chocolate brown, both with pockets featuring the New China embossing.  And a Hobo style bag featuring the fun and bright handi-worked foil with the American Gator pattern.  Both handbags featuring a cancer awareness ribbon and color coordinating lining.  The Terry Tote raises awareness and money for Breast Cancer, while the Leah Hobo raises for Ovarian Cancer.

Terry succumbed to ovarian cancer on September 30, 2009.  Terry was an incredible woman who designed the Angel collection handbags as a way to make people aware and supportive of cancer research.  After defeating breast cancer, Terry battled ovarian cancer for nearly six years. Her life as a cancer survivor and patient was focused on helping those afflicted with cancer and on raising money for research she believed will eventually eliminate this tragic disease.
