Your Government at Work - Congressman Bill Owens
The New York government quite literally came to work last Friday, at Townsend Leather.
US Congressman Bill Owens representing New York State District 21 took some time out of his packed schedule to spend a couple hours at Townsend Leather.
Mr. Owens got the full tour to learn about all the processes, steps, and people that craft Townsend’s leather. He also spent time listening to concerns about the area and the state of current politics and had some deep and meaningful conversation about solutions.
Congressman Bill Owens is the representative for New York’s 21st Congressional District, a post he has held since 2009. From his website bio: As the Representative for the second largest congressional district east of the Mississippi, Bill is working with his colleagues on both sides of the aisle to help create jobs and economic opportunity for hardworking New York families.
Some of the experts at Townsend, Tim Beckett – Sr. Vp., Jared Eckler – President, and Terry Kucel – Chairman spent time giving the Congressman the tour and conversing about issues. Many of the topics focused around improving employment conditions in the Fulton County area and creating a more business-friendly environment in New York State.
The Congressman, his team, the newspaper reporters, and the NBC news team all seemed to be impressed with the facilities and the amount of hand-crafted-ness that goes into each Townsend Leather order.
NBC News 13 of Albany was there to report and featured a concise story on the visit and some of the topics discussed, WNYT News Video Clip of Townsend Leather
Everyone who met Bill was happy they did, he was a friendly and attentive person who is clearly passionate about the area and making it even better. We all felt proud to have him here at Townsend and see first hand the people and work happening right here in upstate New York.
We look forward to all the changes and growth we can expect to see at Townsend and in the area over the coming years.
